Silken Windhound Puppies For Sale

How Much is a Silken Windhound?

The price you pay will vary based on the breeder selling the dog. If you purchase from a reputable breeder, one that is a member of clubs associated with the dog breed, they may charge more than other breeders. You can expect to spend between $1,500 to $2,000 for Silken Windhound puppies for sale. Some breeders may fall out of this estimated price range.

What Breeds Make a Silken Windhound?

The Silken Windhound is a breed of its own, but it is not AKC registered as a purebred dog breed. It was created by combining the Borzoi, Whippet, and a Sheltie. All of these breeds combined help give the Silken Windhound its look.

Where Can I Find a Reputable Silken Windhound Breeder?

The search for the Silken Windhound may be hard, but I hope I can help you by recommending four breeders to you. All of these breeders actively breed and have Silken Windhound puppies for sale.

Entourage Silken Windhounds

Entourage is a run by a mother-daughter team. The name entourage comes from that they believe their dogs are their entourage. They are very active in their dog careers as they show, breed, and raise dogs. They started out with shelties and then moved on to raising Miniature Schnauzers. When they met the Silken Windhound, they knew they wanted to have more.

This breeder tends to have a litter about every other year. So if you want to see if they have any upcoming litters, you will need to contact them. However, the breeder does have a contact form that makes you fill out some basic information so they can get back to you.

There are some pictures of past litters up on this breeder’s site, but there isn’t a lot of information. This is a current breeder, but I suggest you email the breeder or fill out the contact form. You can do that here: http://entouragesilkenwindhounds.com/index.html

Skyway Silken Windhounds

The breeder that runs Skyway Silken Windhounds has always been interested and worked with dogs. She has had various breeds that she has worked with but was shown the Silken Windhound in 2012 when she was with her German Shepherd at a lure coursing competition.

She knew she needed to have a Silken after seeing it and was able to get one from the litter she had seen. By the time the year was up, she already had three Silken Windhounds. The goal with her breeding is to produce high-quality and well-rounded Silken Windhounds that can be perfect companions as well as having a sporting ability.

Currently, this breeder is a member of the International Silken Windhound Society and part of the Good Dog Responsible Breeding Program. Currently, the breeder does not have any litters available, but if you are curious about upcoming litters, you can always contact the breeder.

A questionnaire can be filled out that lets the breeder know about you and your family. The breeder can give you even more details on what you need to do to get one of her Silken Windhound puppies for sale. Check her out here: https://www.broadwaysilkens.com/

Amethyst Silken Windhounds

The next breeder that I have to recommend to you is the one at Amethyst Silken Windhounds. This breeder is located in Olympia, Washington. This is a smaller hobby breeder that will have litters occasionally. This breeder is also a member of the ISWS, just like the previous breeder.

This breeder is known for her photography business but still likes to breed her dogs from time to time. All puppies will be ISWS and UKC registered. Puppies will be microchipped and have their first vaccinations before going home to their new owner.

This breeder does have an upcoming litter but make sure you message the breeder to make sure that is still up-to-date information. If you want your dog shipped to you, that will not happen from this breeder, and she likes to sell her dogs as locally as possible.

There are a lot of beautiful pictures of her Silken Windhounds on her website that you can view. If you are interested in getting one of her puppies, then I suggest reaching out to the breeder and asking about the waitlist and how you can get one of her Silken Windhound puppies for sale here: https://olyhillary.smugmug.com/Amethyst-Silken-Windhounds

Aeracura Silken Windhounds

Our last breeder recommendation but certainly not least, is the Aeracura Silken Windhounds. This is a smaller-scale kennel that has litters from time to time. This breeder exposes her dogs to family life to get them ready to be great family companions.

All of the dogs undergo health testing to make sure they are in perfect health to have litters of puppies. These dogs get tested for their eyes, thyroid, and their heart. When a litter of puppies is born, they will also get MDR1, and CEA tested.

The best way to contact the breeder about future litters or just general questions is by email. This breeder currently has litter plans. You can inquire about getting a puppy through email. Check out the breeder here: http://aeracurasilkens.com/

Silken Windhound Rescue

Not all breeds have their own specific rescues, and the Silken Windhound is one that doesn’t. So my recommendation for you if you really want to purchase a Silken Windhound through adoption is to call around to some local or popular shelters and see if they have one in or if they ever have one in to give you a call.

Overall

The breeders above are great starting points on your journey to find Silken Windhound puppies for sale. There are other breeders out there that you can also contact. Keep in mind some of them may not be as actively breeding like they used to.
